Contemporary
Ages 8 to Adult
with Director Amadea
​
An extremely athletic style of dance, Contemporary training at XBa is an umbrella term which encompasses Ballet technique, Modern, Improvisation and Acro, all fused with XBa's unique and one-of-a-kind choreography.
Contemporary is an open and expressive form of dance that allows for freedom of movement, personal expression and physical release.

LADIES
Leggings or dance shorts a minimum of 4" in length
Fitted top; can be short or long sleeve, or tank tops
Bare feet or Contemporary footwear (half soles, foot undeez)
No socks, including Apolla Socks

Top of any style

Ballet
Ages 5 to 17
with Instructor Miss Maria
​
The base of all dance training, Ballet at XBa allows students to indulge in the pure beauty of this dance style. With no pressure of exams, students can experience the full spectrum of this gorgeous dance style.
​
Ballet at XBa supplements students' training with the development of strength, flexibility and endurance needed to maintain a proper dance form.
Dress Code:
Black Ballet Leotard
Pink or Skin-coloured Tights & Slippers
Hair in a slick bun
Black and/or white wrap skirts optional
No shorts, leggings, sweatpants

Pointe
Ages 13 to 17
with Instructor Miss Maria
​
Pointe is open to Recreational dancers ages 13-17 with a minimum of 2 years of previous experience in Contemporary and/or Ballet. Pointe is one of the most physically difficult and mentally demanding dance styles, the class is by admission only.
​
Recreational dancers admitted into Pointe must also register for the Senior / Intermediate Ballet class in order to properly maintain their dance training. Registration in additional Contemporary classes is strongly recommended.
​

Pointe Shoes & appropriate supplies for Pointe only

Street & Hip Hop
Ages 5 to 17
with Instructor Yarra Tsiakos
​
Street Dance training at XBa encompasses all traditional styles of Hip Hop, from its roots in Harlem in the 1970s as a social dance, to old and new school, to locking, popping, tutting and waacking. Breakdance is included under our Street classes. Students are taught proper terminology and technique to prevent injuries.

Dress Code:
Clean, non-marking or black/dark-soled, indoor runners for studio use only, or Dance Sneakers
Comfortable clothes that are easy to move in
No jeans, no runners that leave marks on the floor (Converse, etc)

Lyrical
Ages 12 to 17
with Director Amadea
​
New for the 2025/26 Dance Season, Amadea's Lyrical class will combine Jazz basics with Contemporary and Ballet techniques, set to softer pieces of music.
Lyrical is an emotions-based style of dance where dancers are taught to embody musicality through song lyrics and the stories those songs are telling. It is a literal interpretation of song using physical movement.

Lyrical will be offered for the Senior / Intermediate level of dancers only.
