South Surrey’s XBa Centre of Dance offers excellence in dance education and provides an inclusive dance environment with International Certification programs for the serious dancer, youth, teen, and adult dance classes for all levels, and opportunities for dancers with Diverse Abilities.

Founded by Nela H in 2000, XBa is beloved in the community as generations of dancers move through their world of dance education and into fulfilling lives and careers;  XBa alumni include internationally performing artists, teachers, community leaders, and an Olympian.   XBa’s doors remain open to all and have allowed for former dancers to be able to rediscover and continue their passion into adulthood.

For the 2023/24 dance season, Nela’s daughter, Amadea Hallwas, is stepping into the role of DIRECTOR of XBa Centre of Dance, while Nela will stay on faculty to continue teaching a few classes, and remains as artistic director of DISKORDANSE, XBa's professional division.

Amadea was recognized for her achievements as a Finalist in the Emerging Leader Category with the Surrey Board of Trade's Women in Business Awards, and was the driving force behind XBa receiving the SSWR Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award.

Amadea’s passion for performance and teaching dance is unparalleled, and her choreographic skills unsurpassed.  Amadea is looking forward to taking XBa Centre of Dance to the next level of achievement, and to lead its faculty and students to ongoing excellence in dance education on the SSWR peninsula.
